Attractive, graceful and nutritious plant whose leaves, stems, seeds and roots have delightfully different flavor. Its large, flat oval base can be used in salads, eaten raw or boiled. Seeds are used to flavor pastries, sauces and soups.
When and where to plant: Select sunny location with well drained soil and sow seed as soon as ground can be worked. Sow again in summer for fall harvest. Cultivate soil and enrich with vegetable food and organic matter. Firm soil over seed.
Care: Pull soil around plant's base to cover and blanch.
Harvesting: Pull plant when base reaches 3-6" in length and before it flowers.
