Oasis Horticubes® Growing Media is a low density, high drainage foam with characteristics specifically developed for hydroponics seed germination and vegetative propagation of vegetables, herbs, flowers and foliage crops. These characteristics allow for an optimal balance of oxygen and water, even when saturated with water. The Retail pack configuration is perfect for hobby growers who do not need full case quantities. Horticubes® are sold in sheets that fit into industry standard 1020 Trays.
A lower density and higher drainage foam, the Horticubes® growing medium is specially engineered for the hydroponics seed germination of vegetables and herbs. The Horticubes® higher drainage design helps to maintain an ideal air to water balance, even under heavy watering conditions. The enhanced drainage also keeps the top of the media drier, helping to minimize algae growth. The lower density of the Horticubes® foam medium enables superior root growth.
Growers will appreciate the simplicity that Horticubes® brings to the challenges of hydroponic production. When OASIS® Hydroponic Fertilizer is used in the initial watering of the Horticubes®, the seedling growth increases by 200%. All Horticubes® media is manufactured in a "sheet" style, which fits easily into the industry’s standard "1020" trays. Each Horticubes® sheet is pre-scored for easy separation of a single cube, a block of cubes, or a strip of cubes.
Great for Lettuce, herbs, and other vegetables.

First time user and I had mixed success with some trials. Consistent with other reviews in that things sprouted quickly but I did experience spotty germination with peppers and basil. My trial run for tomatoes (San Marzano from Johnny's) was incredible though. I trimmed off the bottom on the cube to make a square, seeded and boom - 11 days to transplant to 2.5" pots. What I like about this process is the cube goes into a small amount of transplant mix on the very bottom of the pot, then the cube, then mix covering a lot of the stem. Planning to re-do some trials. 3.5 stars for now.
these work great for starting seedlings easy to use .
I do not use these for hydroculture, but for starting the plants for my home garden. I have had great success using the horticubes to germinate all kinds of vegetable, herb, and flower seeds. Some of the things I tried this year are: tomatoes, peppers, chard, broccoli, cabbage, tatsoi, cauliflower, malabar spinach, strawberry spinach, foxglove, columbine, aster, basil, parsley, celery, johnny jump-ups, chamomile, chives, lettuce. The brasaicas germinated within 72 hrs. Even the foxglove and columbine is germinating nicely. And no sign of disease or damping off yet. I used the medium thin size for my home garden needs. i don't think you would want to keep most things in the horticube for long enough for the roots to permeate the bigger size anyway... After they get their first true leaves, they will need dirt. A reasonable and reliable way to start your seeds!
So much better than potting soil to get seeds started. The increased oxygen makes them germinate twice as fast.Peppers are up in 7-8 days - not 3 weeks.Note that once the humidity dome is removed these need water added to the tray 2-3 times a day. Be ready to transfer to cell packs or your hydro system 7-10 days after germination. The bigger the sprouts get, the more water they take in.
I grow hydroponic lettuce in my basement and these cubes are great for germinating the seeds and planting directly into net cups.
Filled the need perfectly. Fast germination of seeds, cubes separated easily for transplanting.
Germinates seeds well and works good for cuttings.
I reluctantly bought these because they were different from what I normally use. They have been wonderful. I started tomatoes and peppers and only 4 have not started so I blame it on the seed. These will be on my shopping list for next year.
I've used the size larger before, and i must say, i have never had a problem with it as long as i kept it the right temp needed for starts and keep them moist! currently waiting for my seedlings.
very good
